As a Professional Organizer Iʼm always asked “you must be SO organized – youʼre home must be so perfect all the time!” HARDLY!
With 2 young kids, 1 big dog, a lizard, 3 fish tanks, a hunky man and his bossy cat itʼs a work in progress at best. At any given point the front hall is covered in hats and mitts, hockey bags and Barbie dolls. But where an organized home differs from a disorganized and chaotic home is one simple thing….
EVERYTHING (and I mean EVERYTHING) MUST have a home within your home! No exceptions. I could rhyme off all the items and where they should go but that doesnʼt really matter. It just has to GO SOMEWHERE. Eventually our things stop having their own space or start getting bumped for newer models – this is when organizers know itʼs time to purge. Out with the old. In with the new. If you donʼt use it, perhaps someone else will. An organized home is “ORGANIC” process. Our homes are not static.
They are constantly changing with our needs, stages in life, new additions. Being organized means being aware of that fact and taking the time every once in a while to make it run smooth as it can.
So my house can look like a hurricane hit it one minute, but give me 15 minutes and I could show it for a real estate listing. Why? Because everything has a place in our space
